Tennessee Auto Accident Results in Fatality

Earlier this week William E. Yarbrough faced charges in the fatal Tennessee auto accident that resulted in the death of a teen. Yarbrough, who has a suspended license from a previous accident, was driving a minivan when he struck a teen who was riding a bike. The teen was thrown from his bike and died, while Yarbrough fled the Tennessee car crash.

Yarbrough was picked up by authorities near the Tennessee and North Carolina borders on Nov. 10. He is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 7 for a preliminary hearing on the hit-and-run case.

Officer Involved in Hit-and-Run Memphis Auto Accident

November 9, 2007

A Memphis police officer was struck by a vehicle while waiting at a red light yesterday. The officer, who was riding a motorcycle at the of the Tennessee auto accident, was hit by a Buick, according to authorities. The suspects in the Buick immediately left the scene of the car crash, but police were able to catch up to them. The police officer was taken to a local medical facility for treatment of noncritical injuries.

Grant to help police curb Tennessee drunk driving accidents

The Commercial Appeal reported that police have received a grant to improve enforcement of drunk driving laws and coordinating DUI enforcement efforts in Northwest Mississippi as well through September 2008.

These efforts are aimed at reducing the amount of Tennessee drunk driving accidents and raising the awareness of DUI injuries. A spokesperson with the police force said he believed the majority of Tennessee drunk driving offenders haven’t been caught, but hopes the grant will help remedy that situation.

Wrongful Death Results in Lawsuit against Walgreens

Another lawsuit has been brought against Walgreens claiming that a wrong prescription resulted in the death of a customer. According the lawsuit, a physician prescribed a painkiller to be taken four at time twice a day for pain. The Walgreens pharmacist, however, provided instructions to take four pills as needed for pain. As a result, the customer, 46, died of a drug overdose 36 hours later.

Since September 2006, Walgreens has faced four trials involving wrongful death claims stemming from prescription errors, according to USA Today. Walgreens has invested $1 billion in safety precautions and systems in an effort to prevent prescription errors.
