Victim of Mississippi auto accident in ICU

GULFPORT –

The Sun Herald reported that a Mississippi auto accident, involving a civilian vehicle and a Mississippi police cruiser, is currently under state agency investigation. 

The officer involved in the accident is on leave with pay. 

The Mississippi auto accident occurred when the officer, responding to a call for backup, ran a red light without using his blue flashing lights and struck two cars, injuring himself and one other person. 

The victim of the Mississippi auto accident is a 75-year-old woman. She is now in the intensive care unit at a local hospital.

Seven injured, one critical in Memphis auto accident

Memphis Police are investigating an accident in Cordova that left one in critical condition and six others injured, according to Eyewitness News.

According to investigators, the Memphis auto accident involved four vehicles and happened at Highway 64 and Houston Levee Road on March 23.

Police said the driver that caused the Tennessee auto accident swerved into the east bound lanes, hit a vehicle and then rolled over and collided with an SUV. The second vehicle then crashed into a second SUV.

The reason why the driver swerved into oncoming traffic is still under investigation.

Warm weather increases chances of Mississippi boating accident

While warmer weather is inviting to boaters and fishermen in South Mississippi, the change in seasons can bring an increase in Mississippi boating accidents and deaths, according to The Sun Herald.

Marine patrol officers are urging patrons of the Mississippi waters to wear their life jackets.

Public safety groups that specialize in water safety are adamant that simple precautions can save lives and prevent boat accidents.

Seven people died and 31 were injured in Mississippi boating accidents in 2006. National statistics show that boat-related accidents begin increasing in April.

Authorities recommend filing a float plan with a responsible friend or family member that includes the place you plan to depart, where you expect to travel, the time you expect to return and the names of everyone on board.

Search for man continues after Mississippi boating accident

The Sun Herald reported that rescuers are searching for a man missing after a Mississippi boating accident near the Bay St. Louis Bridge.

The Mississippi boating accident victim was one of four people who launched a 16-foot boat on Saturday to go fishing. Winds picked up and the boat quickly submerged as the passengers tried to bail.

Three were rescued, according to an official with the Department of Marine Resources. The search continues for the boating accident victim.
