E-cigarette explodes, leaves man in critical condition

Twenty-nine-year-old Memphis, Tennessee resident and Colorado college student Codero Caples is currently confined in a hospital in Colorado Springs and is listed under critical condition after the electronic cigarette he had been smoking exploded in his face on Friday, November 20.

Caples, who is studying personal training and fitness in Colorado Springs and is aspiring to become a professional trainer someday, may be in danger of never walking again, according to his family. He reportedly broke his neck as well as several bones in his face, lost his front tooth, and sustained lacerations and burns to his mouth and lips when the incident occurred. Caples underwent a spinal surgery on the Sunday following the incident, according to local news reports.
