FDA confirms presence of Listeria in Dole salad products

The FDA recently confirmed that Listeria monocytogenes have been found in packages of Dole Salad and vegetables produced at their Vegetable Inc. plant in Springfield, Ohio. Fifteen people across the United States were infected with Listeriosis after consuming the product, and one patient has died, though the exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

Dole announced they were voluntarily recalling all salad and various vegetable packages with product codes that began with an “A” due to the possible threat of Listeria. After the contaminant was confirmed by the FDA, Dole warned consumers to throw out packages with the specific product code or to return the products for a full refund. In total, 23 states and some Canadian provinces were affected by the recall, including Tennessee. The Springfield plant has shut down operations.
