Sardines Recalled Due to Botulism Concerns

The Greenland Trading Corporation is ordering a recall on Al Rasheed Sardine products from retailers in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. The most recent batch of sardines, marked with the expiration date 3/17, reportedly contains Clostridium botulinum. The bacteria cause an especially dangerous form of food poisoning, botulism.

According to the FDA, botulism can cause general weakness, dizziness, double vision, and trouble speaking or swallowing. Anyone currently experiencing these symptoms should consult a doctor as soon as possible. Medical authorities are strongly discouraging the consumption of these products because even the smallest exposure to the bacteria can mean death. Instead, consumers should return the sardines to the place of purchase for a refund.

Defective products such as these can have life-altering consequences. The attorneys at John Michael Bailey Injury Lawyers are experienced in holding companies accountable for negligent practices and obtaining restitution for the victims of toxic food products.
