Wrongful Death Results in Lawsuit against Walgreens

Another lawsuit has been brought against Walgreens claiming that a wrong prescription resulted in the death of a customer. According the lawsuit, a physician prescribed a painkiller to be taken four at time twice a day for pain. The Walgreens pharmacist, however, provided instructions to take four pills as needed for pain. As a result, the customer, 46, died of a drug overdose 36 hours later.
Since September 2006, Walgreens has faced four trials involving wrongful death claims stemming from prescription errors, according to USA Today. Walgreens has invested $1 billion in safety precautions and systems in an effort to prevent prescription errors.
