Wrongful Death Results in Lawsuit against Walgreens

Another lawsuit has been brought against Walgreens claiming that a wrong prescription resulted in the death of a customer. According the lawsuit, a physician prescribed a painkiller to be taken four at time twice a day for pain. The Walgreens pharmacist, however, provided instructions to take four pills as needed for pain. As a result, the customer, 46, died of a drug overdose 36 hours later.

Since September 2006, Walgreens has faced four trials involving wrongful death claims stemming from prescription errors, according to USA Today. Walgreens has invested $1 billion in safety precautions and systems in an effort to prevent prescription errors.

92-Year-Old Woman Killed in Memphis Auto Accident

October 30, 2007

A 92-year-old woman was killed in a Memphis auto accident last Sunday afternoon. According to authorities, the woman was driving her car on Elmore Road near Pear Drive when a man driving a pickup truck hit her head-on. Witnesses said that the driver of the pickup truck may have been in the wrong lane at the time of the Memphis car accident, but the accident is still under investigation. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a local medical facility for treatment and is in stable condition.

Tennessee Auto Accident Results in Fatality

October 26, 2007

A Tennessee auto accident that occurred yesterday resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, the motorcyclist was traveling south on I-81 in Dandridge when he tried to merge into a travel lane from the shoulder. As he tried to merge, he struck the back of a truck, which had tried to move into another lane so the motorcyclist could properly merge onto the interstate. Authorities said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but the crash caused him to be thrown from his motorcycle and he sustained fatal injuries.

No charges have been filed in the Tennessee auto accident.
